O. John Rogge (1903-1983) was an American lawyer who served as an assistant U.S. attorney general from 1946 to 1948, during which time he supervised the prosecution of Nazi war criminals. Rogge was known for his commitment to human rights and legal ethics. He was also active in the civil rights movement, and was one of the few lawyers willing to defend accused communists during the McCarthy era. In addition, Rogge was a professor of law at Yale University and co-founded the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) chapter in Connecticut. He wrote several books on civil liberties and legal ethics.
